Clicker training horses might seem to be a relatively new concept but it actually has been a proven way to train horses for many years now. All animals learn in the same way and just as with other species, training horses using positive reinforcement is the most effective for modifying behaviour. Horses are big, powerful animals and introducing clicker training allows us to teach them the skills they need without us needing to rely on force or punishment.

In our introduction to clicker training sessions, I will visit you where you keep your horse and I will show you the basics to introduce clicker training safely to your horse, ensuring they understand what behaviour gets rewarded. Using food as a reward can be very new and exciting to horses so it is very important that I teach you how to introduce your horse to the rules of the game safely. We will discuss what food is appropriate to use for your individual horse as a reward (factoring in any dietary requirements) and how this new skill can be introduced to different areas of your horses day to day life.

Clicker training will open up so many doors for you and your horse. You will be able to use this to teach your horse to co-operate with essential tasks such as hoof trimming/farrier work; vet visits and procedures; trailer loading as well as liberty training and many, many fun tricks you can teach your horse! Clicker training will dramatically improve you relationship with your horse and they will be eager to interact with you. Introducing positive reinforcement training to your horse can be gradual and work alongside your current goals and dreams. Be warned, once you see the results, you may just get addicted!

Colwyn Bay, Old Colwyn, Abergele, Llandudno, Conwy, Llanfairfechan.
